As soon as summer arrives, Paris adopts a new rhythm; one that’s lighter, more festive and relaxed. The pleasures are numerous, from artisanal ice creams savoured on the banks of the Seine to lazy sessions on the deckchairs of Paris Plage and water games in the Parc André-Citroën... But one of our favourites is, without a doubt, open air film festivals and their movies under the stars...

Open air film festivals in Paris

Let's start with an essential event that will bring big screen magic into your summer, five nights a week, from July 17th to August 18th; Le Cinema en Plein Air de la Villette. The lawns of the Parc de la Villette plays host to movie screenings using the largest inflatable screen in Europe. Some 25 films, from recent blockbusters to old favourites and art-house gems, plus sessions for children, all in their original versions, await you during this 29th edition based around the theme of ‘Tomorrow’. Spread a blanket or rent a deckchair, sip an aperitif and wait until night falls for the magic to begin!

Dates to remember...

There are many other outdoor film festivals taking place in Paris as well as one-off events dedicated to the magic of the 7th Art. Among these, don’t miss A Sunday at the Outdoor Cinema on the Champs-Elysees, on July 7th. Deckchairs colonise the cobblestones and a huge screen lights up on the Arc de Triomphe. Enchanting! Also make a note of the Bar à Bulles of the Machine du Moulin Rouge, where a film will be shown each week from July 10th to September 11th. You’ll love the intimate atmosphere and the beautiful silhouette of the famous Moulin against the night sky...

Experience the fun and friendliness of the Parisian outdoor film festivals. Your team at the Hotel Les Deux Girafes will keep you informed so you don’t miss out. For a summer filled with the joys of movie magic under the stars, book your stay today!
